BearGraph for Mac
Your library.
On your Mac.
BearGraph builds a graph from the Bear library you authorize. It keeps that work local and your source notes read-only.
Effective October 25, 2026
Who we are
Gregor Richardson LLC, operating as Appy Thoughts, provides BearGraph and this website. You can contact us at beargraph@appythoughts.com.
Reading your Bear library
BearGraph reads notes, tags and links to build your graph. It does not edit, rename, tag, archive, delete or unlock your notes. Note text is processed locally to identify links. Note bodies and attachments are not saved as part of BearGraph’s remembered graph.
Eligibility checks exclude locked and otherwise inaccessible notes. A successful update removes graph information that is no longer eligible. BearGraph cannot detect changes instantly while it is closed or unable to refresh.
What stays on your Mac
Remember access on this Mac stores read-only folder permission and database file identity so BearGraph can load your library on a later launch. It is enabled by default. This option does not itself save your graph or note content. Uncheck it for a session-only connection. Disconnect removes the saved permission; a removal failure is reported so you can retry.
The separate Remember this library feature saves eligible graph metadata and saved views after its own disclosure. Metadata can include note titles, identifiers, tags and relationships. Disconnect removes that remembered library. Display preferences may also persist locally.
BearGraph communicates locally with Bear and a bundled callback helper to verify links. The helper is part of the app, not a hosted service. BearGraph does not require an app account, upload your library to a BearGraph server, or include an analytics upload service.
Files you export
You choose whether and where to save PNG and HTML exports. They can reveal labels, tags and relationships. Review them before sharing.
Hiding labels is a visual setting, not anonymization. Interactive HTML still contains information needed for hover and search. Current HTML exports omit source-note URLs and have no connection to your Bear library. Disconnecting or changing a source note cannot revoke a file you already shared.
Support reports and email
Support diagnostics are created or updated when requested. They contain bounded app state, versions and optional event or timing information, not note text, titles, tags, source paths or credentials. Copying a report puts it on your clipboard; it does not send it.
If you email support, your email service sends your address and whatever you include to beargraph@appythoughts.com. BearGraph does not attach your graph, library or diagnostics automatically. Please avoid sending private note content.
How we handle support messages
We use your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send to answer your request and resolve support issues. Our support mailbox is hosted by Namecheap. We retain support correspondence for up to 12 months after the last interaction, unless we must retain it longer to meet a legal requirement.
You can request deletion of your support correspondence by emailing beargraph@appythoughts.com. We will delete it unless a legal requirement prevents us from doing so.
Visiting this website
This website does not use tracking scripts, advertising, contact forms or cookies. Namecheap hosts the site and stores web server access logs. These can contain your IP address, request time, requested page, response status, referring page and browser information. Hosting logs are separate from data handled locally by the BearGraph app.
For details about the hosting service’s practices, see Namecheap’s explanation of visitor logs and its privacy policy.
